Colonial Cedar Pencils
Cedar pencils were first introduced to colonial merchants in the early 18th century and imported from London. The imported pencils were much easier to hold and use. Prior to the importing of cedar pencils to the Colonies, the colonists used heavy pencils made from powdered graphite mixed with clay. The cedar pencils are different from today's modern pencils as they are unfinished and do not have an eraser.

Set of 5 cedar pencils ready to be sharpened. Includes brief history of the pencils.
