Gold metal souvenir lapel pin featuring the Civil War Infantry insignia of the bugle. Military clasp, pin measures 7/8 inches across.
The French hunting horn was adopted by the US government for use as the insignia for its infantry in 1836. In 1858, Union Army infantry enlisted began to wear the brass decoration on their caps. Their regimental number was to be placed inside the bend and their company letter above the bugle.
