"A Re-enactor's Sketchbook of Artifacts and Sights." Cathy Johnson is a living history re-enactor and lifelong artist in the Midwest. In this book, she uses her skill as a sketch artist to document equipment, tools and common accoutrements used in daily life from the mid-1700's to the mid-1800's. Her sketches are quite detailed and includes text explaining how and why various implements were employed. Topics include writing tools and supplies, navigation equipment, cookware, tinware, clothing, pistols, horn goods, shooting bags, lanterns, and personal accessories such as spectacles and canteens.
Also includes resources for further reading on creating a persona, a complete bibliography as well as a section on the various historical sites the author has visited and the folks who inhabit them. Neat book as an introduction to historical artifacts used by reenactors and living historians today.
