Full newspaper reproduction of abolitionist paper, The Anti-Slavery Bugle, issued from Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio on Saturday, October 29, 1859. The Bugle was the journal of the Western Headquarters for the Anti-Slavery Association based in Salem, Ohio.

This issue includes numerous accounts of John Brown's raid on the Harper's Ferry Armory on October 16, 1859, and his subsequent trial which brought national attention to the abolitionist cause. Several conversations with Brown are documented in the paper. Includes local advertisements.
